Committee roles 2019:
Hook Runners Annual General Meeting (AGM) is now booked for Wednesday 20th March 2019 starting at 7.30pm at Hook Junior School where we will review the great things that have happened to your club over the past 12 months and talk about the plans for the next year as we continue to grow. One of the key things will be to elect the Committee for the following year.
It would be great to see some different faces around the Committee table and to get some new ideas and energy into running the club. A number of the current Committee have indicated that they wish to stand aside, so if you have ever thought about getting more involved in running the club please consider joining us on the Committee. For next year we have decided to form a smaller Executive Committee made up of the following roles:
- Membership Secretary;
- Welfare Officer;
In addition there are a number of other roles that are just as important in ensuring that we can operate as efficiently as possible:
- Communications Officer;
- Kit Manager;
- Social Secretary;
Committee meetings are held monthly at present and the time commitment is not great if the roles are shared out over a number of people. Club training sessions this week:
Although the days are getting longer we still expect our members to wear light colours and preferably some form of Hi-Viz and/or reflective clothing.
Monday 7pm with Lucy – week seven of the ten week ABC course. Recent graduates and other members are welcome to attend and support.
Tuesday 7.30pm with Pete – 800m intervals with jog recoveries: these are steady efforts at 5-10k pace with a slow jog recovery of about 400m. Number of reps will vary on your speed, but overall running time will be about the same for everyone.
Please note: no Tuesday am session with Penny (half term)
Wednesday 8pm with Terry – This week we cut back in terms of distance, but do some strength training courtesy of short hill reps!
Thursday 7pm with Tim – Lactate threshold pace runs – longer reps around 10km pace or a little faster, and likely to be ‘out and back’ so handy if you have a watch. 12 minute run out, then 2 minutes easy, turn back with another 12 minute effort followed by 2 minutes easy. You should finish where you started! Great for building speed endurance.
Saturday 9am – Basingstoke parkrun (War Memorial Park)
Sunday 8am – Group runs or Cross Country at Polecat Valley
9 March: Annual Awards Evening
17 March: Fleet Half Marathon or Reading Half Marathon
20 March: Hook Runners AGM
